The InkSmith Global Goals Challenge (Free Resource)
In honour of #GlobalGoalsWeek 2020, InkSmith is releasing a free resource for educators to teach Global Goals in the classroom! This September, leaders across the globe will gather virtually to further progress towards 17 Sustainable Development goals outlined by the United Nations (UN) in 2015.
To illustrate the importance of these goals, global citizenship and our role in a world that’s becoming increasingly interconnected, we've created this free curriculum resource for grades 3+. This resource aims to help support educators in highlighting #GlobalGoalsWeek in their virtual or in-person classrooms.
Students will be encouraged to expand their digital literacy skills by making digital posters that promote responsible actions to improve quality of life for all, now and in the future.
What is Global Goals Week?
This year, Global Goals week occurs from September 18th through to the 26th and marks the 5th anniversary of the goals that were agreed upon by 193 countries in 2015. The annual conference brings together world leaders in hopes of accelerating progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. For more information about the United Nations Global Goals or Global Goals Week, please visit their website.
Why InkSmith made this resource:
At InkSmith, we've always been advocates for incorporating the Global Goals into education. Specifically, we're on a mission to demonstrate how 21st-century technology can be used to help achieve the Global Goals while also teaching students valuable digital skills.
In addition to this, we understand that educators are facing unique challenges in their transition back into teaching this fall. We want to support educators by providing a free resource that fosters the importance of 21st-century skills in a way that can be delivered both in person or online.
What's the point of this resource?
Through the InkSmith Global Goals Challenge, students will apply and develop their digital literacy skills by creating digital posters that promote responsible decision-making in relation to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Our hope is that this process will engage students in local, national and global initiatives that will empower them to make a positive difference in our world, supporting quality of life for all, now and into the future.
Another goal of this resource is to bring awareness to the the UN Global Goals and inspire other educators across the country to implement the goals as part of their teaching.
