4000 Trees Planted from Climate Action Kit Pre-Sales

Last month InkSmith launched the Climate Action Kit, a micro:bit Inventor's kit for empowering students to tackle climate change issues while learning about the UN Sustainable Development Goals. As part of the Climate Action Kit pre-sale, InkSmith pledged to donate 10 trees for every kit sold during the Week For Future Climate Strikes. Following the success of the pre-sale campaign, InkSmith has decided to round up the donation for a total of 4000 trees, which will be planted through the Trees for the Future organization.

Trees for the Future is a non-profit organization, dedicated to giving families the ability to transition from unsustainable farming techniques to a Forest Garden system through the planting of trees in third world countries.

When fully released, the Climate Action series will consist of three individual kits. The first Kit, Land, is available for pre-order now, with the Oceans and Energy Kits being released early next year.

The first kit in the Climate Action series, Land, introduces students to a variety of climate issues pertaining to life on land. The Land Kit allows students to explore topics such as deforestation and soil erosion while challenging them to design their own solutions like automated tree planters or vegetable farms. Each climate issue has been strategically framed in the context of their solution, encouraging the idea that hope is the basis of action.
